Boyle, Donald J. September 7, 1943 - September 14, 2013

Donald Nolan Boyle was born September 17, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri to Nolan Joseph Boyle and Cleo Mae (Dennis) Boyle. He passed away September 14, 2013.

He grew up in the Osceola area where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Kay Lawson. To this union 3 children were born, Donnie, Jo Dona and Terry. After high school, Don served in the United States Marine Corps where he received injuries that affected him for the rest of his life. He earned the distinction of Sharp Shooter and served at the Bay of Pigs. He was a member of the VFW Post 1894.

Don worked at Sheffield Steel in Kansas City, Missouri prior to entering law enforcement. He first worked as a Juvenile Service Officer, then was a Correctional Officer at the State Penitentiary in Jefferson City. He was certified in several specialized areas, completing many courses as his duties required through the years.

He was elected Municipal Court Judge in Osceola and owned and operated a restaurant in Lowry City with his wife Kay for some time.

Don loved animals and in his final years was never without his faithful dog, Butch. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, and restoring classic cars.

He battled neurofibromatosis and heart disease for many years.

Don was united in marriage to Janet Lee Page on May 10, 1982. They enjoyed fishing and camping and a hot game of cards along with a Sunday afternoon drive with Mom, Mae and Dad, Nolan. Together Don and Jan managed group homes for several years. They owned and operated The Country Retirement Home in Osceola for 14 years. Don trusted Christ as his Savior. He was baptized and a member of the Osceola Community Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Nolan Boyle, brother-in-law, Darrell Hughes and beloved dog, Butch.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Janet Boyle; mother, Mae Boyle; sons, Donnie Boyle and wife Sherri, Terry Boyle and Gina; daughter, JoDona Schussler; step-sons, Joseph E. Mangum IV and wife Wendy, Greg Mangum and wife Marrion; step-daughter Julie Witt and husband Perry; sister, Joyce Hughes; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives, friends and his faithful attendant from SMILES, Kathy Poort.
