James C. Brown of Eldorado Springs, Missouri, passed away on August 3, 2025, at the age of 90.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Beverly; daughters Debbie and Misty; grandchildren Katie, Connor, Masen, and Phoebe; and great-grandson Julian.
James and Beverly were married on May 17, 1958, in Rockville, Missouri. They spent many happy years in Kansas City, where James worked as a supervisor for Walker Oil Company for 36 years. An entrepreneur at heart, he also opened a car wash and a laundromat, proudly naming it Bev’s Laundry—known locally as “the cleanest laundromat in town.”
Outside of work, James enjoyed hunting, fishing, and time with his family at the lake. He had a lifelong love for the outdoors and for the simple pleasures of country living. After taking early retirement, he returned to the rural roots where he was raised and spent his later years as a cattle broker and rancher—doing the work he loved most.
And when he finally slowed down, James and Beverly discovered a shared hobby they both enjoyed—testing their luck together at the casino.
James will be remembered for his strong work ethic, quiet determination, and the steady, dependable way he lived his life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Roscoe Cemetery in his memory. Roscoe Cemetery C/O Pat Terry, Treasurer, 2030 SE 101 RD. Oscoela, Missouri 64776.

October 7, 2025 at 1:14 pmWhat an amazing kind and gentle man. Jim always had a story to tell and a smile on his face, I will always remember the many times that he would come over to our farm and purchase our cattle. We would always have a good time bartering back and forth and he always told us that he was paying us just a little extra. He had a soft spot for our cattle operation such as it was, my daughter thought that Jim was everything and I truly believe the feeling was mutual, after his trailer was loaded, he would come over to my daughter and I with big hugs and the promise to see each other again!! Our loss here on earth was certainly heavens gain! Many thoughts and prayers to Bev and the family! Sincerely with love! Rhonda Hiestand and Randa Bruce…thanks for all the memories Jim and for always taking the greatest care of our animals as you loaded and transported them down the road!!
