Cindy Lou McLarry, 68, of Urich, Missouri, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, at KU Medical Center, surrounded by those who loved her most.
Cindy was born on June 25, 1957, in Paola, Kansas. Cindy was the beloved daughter of Bryan and Wilma Peak. She grew up alongside her brother Ron and sisters Janice and Becky, forming bonds that would last a lifetime. She went to school in Paola. She married the love of her life William (Bill) McLarry March 23, 1985. From an early age, Cindy was known for her kindness, silliness, generosity, and deep compassion. She had a laid-back, go-with-the-flow spirit that carried her through life and made everyone around her feel at ease.
Cindy devoted many years to caring for others as a Certified Med Assistant at Vintage Park, a role that perfectly reflected her servant heart. She had a deep love for God and found peace in nature. She was an animal lover; she especially loved her many dogs she had over her lifetime. She enjoyed gardening and canning, she always loved a good cross word puzzle, she loved horses, and cherished time with her family. Her beloved bingo on Friday nights with her family meant the world to her, and of course, her love of Snoopy.
Cindy’s favorite color was purple, a fitting choice for someone so vibrant and full of life. She loved garage sales, hippy stores, and for a while there, could easily be mistaken for eBay’s number one customer. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures and had a remarkable gift for being a light during even the darkest times. Cindy always knew how to make you laugh, how to make you feel seen, and how to make you feel like you belonged.
She was kind to everyone and never knew a stranger. She greeted everyone with her unmistakable “he-ll-oo,” a sound that will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved her. Cindy was known for her quirkiness, her goofy faces, and her unforgettable sense of humor.
She made the best apple pie, and according to her husband, the best liver and onions (which the rest of us strongly question but loved her for anyway). Above all, Cindy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Her love was steady, genuine, and unconditional.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bryan and Wilma Peak. She is survived by her husband William (Bill) McLarry of the home. Her siblings Ron and Eva Elkinton, Janice and Gary Wills, and Becky and Bob McKinsey. Her daughter Keri and husband Brad Gulley, daughter April Lunsford, her grandchildren Madilyn, Tristan, Maranda, Billy and her great grandchildren.
Cindy was truly one of a kind. We love her mostest and more, and she will be missed beyond words, forever and always.
