Collins, Esther Ruth

Ephesians 4:11&12 “It was he who gave some to be teachers, o prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up…”

From a country home maintained in 19th century conveniences, the oldest daughter of Marion and Agnes Collins emerged with a heart full of desire to serve God and to teach. Esther Ruth earned her B.S. in Ed. And a Masters in Education from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri.

As a child Esther Ruth learned the art of gardening, canning, and cooking from her parents and maternal grandmother Susie Lee Casey Wilkerson Collins. Esther Ruth was amazed and tickled that her coconut cream pie would bring nearly $200 at a benefit auction at Mt. Zion Bible School. She was known for her jellies which she gave freely as gifts and to be auctioned for benefit.

At the age of 10 Esther Ruth gave her heart to Christ. Again, in 1948 she rededicated her life to God and accepted His perfect sanctification. For 60 years she taught at Mt. Zion Bible School retiring in 2015 at the age of 84.

Esther Ruth placed her trust and faith in God, always trusting His perfect will for her life. In 2013 she knew she had breast cancer and put her future into the hands of the Great Physician, believing His will would be done
