Fontana, Kansas. In 1974 the family moved to the Collins, Missouri area on a farm. Freda
got a job at the local restaurant as a cook at Howard B’s Restaurant. She worked here
for a few years, then started work at Sac-Osage Hospital in the laundry department.
She did this for a year and then transferred to nursing assistant. She had found her
calling. She went back to school and became an LPN in 1983. She worked as an LPN at
Sac-Osage hospital until she retired at age 68.

She always loved horses and grew up riding. She had several horses over the years.
She had one that she kept for 23 years. This was one that the kids learned to ride on.
Freda especially loved trail riding. She and daughter Sherry would go to Eminence,
Missouri to ride trails in June and sometimes again in October each year. There would
always be horse shows to go to in between times.
