Lawrence Dale Moore was born December 23, 1958 in Independence, Missouri, to Truman Gene and Nita Dean (Stevens)Moore. He departed this earth on January 30, 2026.
Dale’s childhood was spent in Independence, where he could be found playing ball with his brothers and other neighborhood boys. The day before school started in 1974, the family moved to Roscoe. Dale graduated from Osceola High School in 1977 and shortly after, attended the Union Electrical Apprentice Trade School and entered the workforce. He enjoyed traveling all over the United States working for the pipeline.
When Dale returned to Osceola he married Sue Nelson, and together they had three girls who were his pride and joy: Kara, Maisie, and Shelby. Dale also welcomed his girls’ siblings, Max and Emma, as his own. While the girls were young he worked for H. Roe Bartle Scout Camp in Iconium as their electrician, HVAC technician, and overall maintenance man.
When Dale became a grandparent, his world changed for the better. He was so proud of Nolan, Lydia, Cameron, Blair, Truman, Lyla and Eden. He was affectionately known as “Grumpy” and took advantage of every opportunity to attend ball games, piano recitals, and replay videos over and over of the kids’ events. He loved fishing and frying fish for friends, hunting morel mushrooms, coon and pheasant hunting, and teaching his grandkids to be outdoorsmen. His love of the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals ran deep. He took great joy in taking his kids and grandkids for a day at the K.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Nita, and his brother, Charlie. He is survived by his brothers Rick (Linda) and Steve Moore, daughters Kara (Nick) Colby, Maisie (David) Benoit, and Shelby (Daniel) Wisner, Max Bullock, Emma Bullock, and his seven grandchildren. He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as a host of friends.
Dale was loved by many and will be missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Dale Moore Memorial Fund, in care of St. Clair County State Bank. An ADA seating area will be constructed in his memory, site TBD.
