David Wayne Lackey, age 67, passed away, September 29, 2023. He was born March 11, 1956, in Kansas City, Mo to Lee Roy and Thelma Lackey. David joined the United States Marine Corps in 1973. After leaving the Marines, he married his friend and love of his life Evelyn Lorraine Matter on September 18, 1980.
They raised two children, Jason Matter, and April Lackey while living in Kansas City, Mo. Later they moved to Osceola, Mo where David eventually retired from being an owner-operator of a trucking company.
David belonged to the Friends of Jesus Baptist Church where he gave his life to God and was baptized in the Osage River by his brother and Pastor Kenneth Taylor.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, Lee Roy Lackey Sr. of Osceola, Mo, Thelma L. Kropf of Pittsburg, Mo, and his brother, Kenneth L. Taylor of Foley, Al.
David is survived by; wife of 43 years Lorraine, son Jason Matter of Harrisonville, Mo, daughter April Lackey of Osceola, Mo, sister Susan and husband Michael Patten of Killeen, Tx, sister Linda Lackey of Buffalo, Mo, sister Rebecca and husband William Snowden of Liberty, Mo, half-brother Lee Roy Lackey Jr. wife Debbie of Independence, Mo, sister in-law Alice Taylor of Foley, Al. 7 grandchildren: Jayson, Amie, Clay, Austin, Michael, Allison, Katelin, and great grandson Jesse and numerous nieces and nephews. And best friend and Benny Robinson, all of them, he loved deeply!
