Betty Marie Garrett was born June 10, 1943 in East Hampton, New York to Jay Ford DeLamater and Celia Ray Maynard. When she was 3 months old she was brought to Missouri and raised by Clifford and Emma Schrader (her maternal aunt).  She passed away Wednesday, February 19th at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 81.

Betty grew up and went to school in Sedalia, Missouri.  She then met her future husband Robert “Bob” P. Garrett who worked for her Uncle Clifford. They were united in marriage on December 7, 1962 in Cole Camp, Missouri where they resided in a cabin on his parents’ farm. Of this Union a beloved son, Russell K. Garrett was born.

Betty was blessed with the ability to be a full time homemaker. She was a loving woman with a rich and complex life. Among her many interests were: God, special Sunday lunches with her son, attending church services at First Baptist Church in Osceola, gathering with her friends and family, camping, shopping, games with her friends, spending time with her honorary grandbabies, coffee, Gun Smoke on tv, helping others’ , and being a good steward of her community.  She loved life and all that it has to offer.

Betty was always up for adventure and on the go all of the time. She will be remembered for her kindness, her loving heart and her willingness to always be there for everyone in need. Mostly, she will be remembered for her devotion to her loved ones and her unwavering affection for her son.
