Haston G (H.G.) Hammons Jr passed away in the early hours of May 15, 2025, at the St Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, MO.
Born on October 26, 1946, in Blairstown, Missouri, H.G. grew up playing basketball and working on the family farm. He pursued higher education at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg and later at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. In January 1968, he married the love of his life with whom he shared 57 years of marriage and raised five children.
H.G. built a successful career as an accountant, operating his own accounting practice for nearly four decades. Outside of work, he enjoyed watching Westerns, Johnny Carson reruns, and spending time outdoors whenever possible.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Haston Gover Hammons Sr. and Margaret Lucille Simms Hammons; his son, John G. Hammons; and his siblings Jean King, Paula Williams, and C.R. Hammons.
H.G. is survived by his wife, Brenda J. Hammons; daughters Amy Poindexter, Stacey Adams, Heather Wagner, and Jennifer Rodriguez; daughter-in-law Hilda Hammons; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and sister Leah Jerome.
Final services were provided by Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home of Osceola, Missouri, with interment at Iconium Cemetery.
