John B. “J.B.” Houston was born August 31, 1938 at home in Osceola, Missouri to Pawnee Bert and Gertie (Hardy) Houston.  He passed away March 12, 2021 in Lowry City, Missouri at Truman Lake Manor.

He went to school in Osceola until 1957.  He dropped out that year and enlisted with the United States Marine Corps, where he later got his GED.  He spent 20 years with the Marines in communications.  When he retired he trained to be a small engine repair man.

In 1977 he was united in marriage to Nancy Desneux and they moved to Taberville, Missouri where he opened his shop.  J.B. did a lot of hunting and fishing in his spare time.

J.B. and Nancy moved to Arizona in the late 80’s where he worked for the department of defense at the Yuma Proving Grounds.  They eventually moved back to Missouri where he worked for Acme Brick and Cox South in the housekeeping and transportation department.  They lived there for about 10 years before returning to Osceola, Missouri.

He was a member of the Appleton City V.F.W. and the Warsaw Leathernecks.

J.B. was preceded in death by his parents, Pawnee Bert Houston and Gertie Houston; brothers, Darrel Ray Houston, Coy (Monk) Houston, Charles Houston and Bobby Houston; sisters, Darlene Brattin, Nova Brattin, Katherine Massey and step-son Kenneth Huff.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Houston; sister, Patty Clark and husband Doug, several nieces, nephews and many friends.

    I am truly sorry to lose JB as he has been a big help to me over the last year with all that has gone on in my life. He was truly a good person and I will miss him.
