God gifted this first born child and only daughter to Thomas McKinley Pierce and Lela Evelyn Maguire Pierce on April 3, 1942, in Grand Island, Nebraska. Her Lord and Savior called her into His arms on May 14, 2026, from Appleton City, Missouri at the age of 84 years and 41 days.
Janice was raised on the family farm outside of Harvard, Nebraska. She and her mother served as hostesses for countless teas and showers for others during her teenage years. She graduated from Harvard Public School in 1960. She won a first place trophy in 1960 from Crisco in a baking/cooking competition. After high school, Janice married and had five children, Lori, Mike, Sherrie, Jeff, and Rhonda.
Janice and her family moved to Missouri in the early 1970’s. She worked at various jobs throughout her life. She was a nursing assistant for many years. All kinds of people fondly remember her as their bus driver when they were younger. She ran a restaurant and bar where she was well known for her delicious steaks and Navajo tacos.
She worked 19 years at Bass Pro Distribution in Springfield, Missouri, from which she retired.
She has resided in Lowry City, Missouri for the past 15 years. Janice had a lot of close relationships of long standing friends with several referring to her as being like a sister to them and one of which has remained her dear close friend for over 60 years. In 1983, after the birth of her first grandchild, Kristi, she became Granny Janny by multitudes of people for the remainder of her life.
Janice enjoyed cooking, crocheting, playing the guitar and dulcimer, putting together puzzles, and playing cards. She loved NASCAR races, watching cooking shows, home and garden shows and RV travel shows on TV. She was an avid supporter of our military and law enforcement.
Remaining on earth to cherish her memories are her children, Lori (Phil) Weide, Mike (Cleta) Clark, Sherrie (Cory) Ziegenbein, and Jeff Cook; her grandchildren, Tanner Wilson, Ginger Skinner, Joe (Ashley) Wilson, Abby Eidson, Shannan (Troy) Hendrick, Kaleb (Kristin) Clark, Miranda (Kyle) Carmichael, Kristi (Mike) Hill, Kimberly Noakes-Greathouse, Katlyn (Kaio) Uhing, Ian Kimmen, Jesse, Cody, and Madison (Bartels) Ziegenbein, Jessie Cook, Jennie Lauders, Rylee (Rocky) McCormack and Alex Cook, 29 great-grandchildren with one on the way, nieces, nephews and so very many friends.
Welcoming her into Heaven are her parents, infant daughter Rhonda, granddaughter Kayla Skeahan, brother and sister-in-law Tom and Nikki Pierce, and brother Jerry Pierce.
Janice’s wishes were to be cremated then have a private gathering of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to scatter her ashes at a later date.
