Lloyd Ricky Knight, was born (3 months early), on July 7, 1952, to Lloyd Thomas (Tommy) and Ruth Marie (Hochstedler) Knight, in Osceola, Missouri. He passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital with his brother Fred, and Karen by his side.
Rick was raised in the Osceola area. As a boy, he and his brother Fred helped with farm chores, rode bicycles, visited cousins and friends, and they also picked up walnuts. He enjoyed visiting his grandparents and playing with his cousins. Grandma’s Kool-Aid was so sweet! As a teenager, Rick bought a buggy of sorts, and he and the guys spent many hours riding around, mudding in it.
Rick graduated from Osceola High School in 1972. Shortly after graduation, he went to work at Clearfield Cheese, and Schreiber. He also worked for Debbie Johnson at Johnson Telemetry, and Asplundh Tree Expert Company.
After retirement, Rick moved back to Osceola and lived on his parent’s farm. He loved to spend time with Fred and help him. He loved to be joked with and never knew a stranger. Rick was very goosey and the guys took advantage of that, every chance they got. You never knew what would come out of his mouth when they did. Rick’s nickname was Hoot.
Rick was a member of Vista Baptist Church and loved the people there.
After a near fatal four wheeler accident, Rick spent the last five years in Truman Lake Manor. There, he enjoyed going out to eat, going to Fred and Karen’s and beating Fred at dominoes.
Rick is survived by his brother, Fred Knight and Karen; children, Lloyd Christopher Knight, Rickayla, and Raelynn Knight; aunt, Kathy Tillotson; cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to River’s Crossing Life Center, Vista Baptist Church, or Truman Lake Manor, in care of Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home: P.O. Box 384 Osceola, Missouri 64776.
