Lawrence Eugene Robbins

Lawrence Eugene Robbins, 70, Humansville, Missouri, was the engineer on his final train ride home on March 10, 2026, at home surrounded by his family.

Larry as he was called by friends and family was born in Kansas City, Kansas on May 13, 1955. He was the only son and middle child to Herbert Robbins and Wanda Rose (Peterson) Robbins of Tonganoxie Kansas. Larry spent his childhood and teenage years in Tonganoxie Kansas where he graduated high school. He loved sports and played football, wrestled, and was involved in track. Larry enjoyed growing up in Tonganoxie and through school made many lifelong friends. In the summers he worked in the family hardwood flooring business. He even spent one summer with a moving company since the football coach thought it would be good fitness training. In 1974 Larry went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad. He worked in maintenance away, was a conductor and eventually an engineer. Larry made numerous friends working at the railroad and retired with a permanent disability in 2006. He borrowed out to numerous locations across the United States working for the railroad and made friends at every location. Larry loved to tell the story about “borrowing a train” when he was a conductor that involved a young lady and possibly some adult beverages. Needless to say, his employer was not impressed with his shenanigan. He may have been given some time off from the job but was brought back to finish his career.

In 2006 Larry married Sherri and became the BONUS dad to Keith, Kyle and Luke. Larry was kind and generous with his family. Larry was the president of the Weaubleau Tigers Booster Club for a few years while Luke was in high school and loved interacting with the faculty and staff. Larry was proud to attend weddings of his bonus sons, nieces, nephews, great nephew and great niece.

Larry was an avid Kansas Jayhawk fan and loved watching sports. He took great pleasure in teaching the grandkids to say “Rock Chalk Jayhawk” which resulted in one of his nick names from the grandkids of “The Hawk”.

Larry attended the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield Kansas almost every year of its existence. So many fun memories with people who remain friends today. The name of his camp at Winfield was “Kant C Behavin” and that is mostly what transpires for two weeks in September every year.

Larry loved to frequent a few local establishments to socialize and swap stories with friends he had met since moving to southwest Missouri. He enjoyed visiting the casinos and usually would wind up in deep conversations with other casino visitors. His kind and generous spirit always drew people in. He always had a story to tell and truly loved visiting with everyone.

Larry was proceeded in death by his parents, Herb and Wanda Robbins; a nephew, Justin Mark, and a grandson Keith McRae Marquis.

Larry is survived by his wife Sherri Robbins of the home. Bonus son Keith and wife Stefanie Marquis, bonus son Kyle and wife Amanda Marquis, and bonus son Luke and wife Olivia Routh. Mother In Law Sharon McMillin. Sister Carolyn Mark. Sister Diane Robbins and Les McPeak. Brother in law James and wife Melissa McMillin. Niece Jennifer Wilson and husband Alan. And 9 grandchildren Blaike, Brady, Quade, Allyanna, Cash, Knox Oaklee, Jimmy, Aurora, and Lyla. As well as one great, great niece, Collins J and one great, great nephew Drew.

Larry will always be remembered as a loving husband, supportive bonus dad, fun loving “Hawk”, cherished brother, uncle and great uncle.
