Jimmie Lavon Lovewell was born November 27, 1939 near Birdsong, Mo to Henry and Elizabeth. As a child, he attended 1st to 6th grade at Greenwood school and 6th – 7th grades at Blackjack. He graduated from El Dorado Springs High School with the class of 1957. After working for 1 year at the shoe factory in El Dorado Springs, he went to work at Shawnee Mission Ford as a Mechanic in 1959 he worked there for several years then worked for Olathe Ford for several more years. He then bought his parents farm at Blackjack and went to work for the El Dorado Springs School as the Bus Mechanic. He kept the buses running smoothly and safely for 25 years. He mentored many young men especially how to make their trucks and cars run faster.
Jim was always busy and a very hard worker. In addition to the farm where he had several head of beef cattle, he worked on people’s cars in the evenings at his garage at the farm. He also loved to garden and always raised a huge garden. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman, he enjoyed trout fishing with his great grandchildren and enjoyed many years of deer hunting. The woods and the rivers were his Church.
Preceded in death by his parents, Henry, and Elizabeth (Lizzy) Lovewell, two half- sisters Blanche Lovewell and Florence Witt, two half- brothers Albert and Olivar, Brothers, Hubert Lorenzo Lovewell, Harvey “Buck” Lovewell, William Henry (Bill Lovewell), and Freddie Lovewell, Sisters, Agatha Bell Lovewell, Nellie Mae Melton, Lillie Marie Lovewell, and Vera Mogan
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean Lovewell of the home, Daughter Debbie Berckefeldt, (Rick), Two Granddaughters, Tiffany Knaebel (Matt), Amanda Farris (AJ), 5 Great Grandchildren Sean Nigh, Kaylie Knaebel, Kaleb Knaebel, Riley Farris, and Weston Farris. Sisters, Erma Lovewell and Rosalee Lovewell.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the El Dorado Springs Alumni.
