Maxell Leonard Loyd was born May 5, 1925 in St Clair County, Missouri to Joseph Leonard and Edna Josephine (Callahan) Loyd. On May 12, 1948 he married Clayta Mae Brubeck. He is survived by their children Linda (Loyd) Hendrix, Beverly (Loyd) Harris and Joyce (Loyd) Frey. He is also survived by his sister, Aldine (Loyd) Edwards, numerous grand, great grand and great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Clayta, his parents, brothers Raymond, Curtis, Wallace and a son, David Loyd.
Max married Mary Frances Harper on December 31, 1989. She preceded him in death on December 6, 2006. He gained four step-children with that marriage. Roberta (Harper) Barnes, Sandra (Harper) Hutsler, Theron Harper, and Cheryl Harper-Bailey, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Max enjoyed a full life. He was a veteran of World War II where he served as a Navy ship cook. He was proud of his service to his country. After retiring from General Motors in Kansas City he ended up in his later years living in Clinton, Mo where he went daily to the Clinton Senior Center, volunteered there and played pool with several friends. Max was also active in his church, Northeast Baptist. He loved trains and took many trips west to ride the single-gauge rails. One of his favorite pass-times was tackling all kinds of puzzles. These past two years, due to health, Max resided with Roberta and her husband, Cal until this September when he required the care of the Adrian Manor in Adrian, Mo where he passed peacefully on November 20, 2015.
