Theresa Malinda Reid Irvin Lysinger was born January 8, 1944 to Earl C. Reid and Mildred B (Heinson) Reid in Kansas City, Kansas. She passed away May 28, 2019 in Kansas City, Missouri.
She attended school in Greenwood, St. Joseph Catholic School and Shawnee Mission North High with the class of 1960. She also went to Hay’s School of Cosmetology, graduating January 1, 1961.
Malinda became a child of God in August of 1971 at the Church of Christ in Springhill, Kansas. She loved teaching the little children on Sundays and Wednesdays. She also had a class for young girls for many years and helped teach women’s study groups. Malinda was a member of the Clinton Church of Christ in Clinton, Missouri.
She met her first love Kelvin Keith Irvin in January of 1960 and they were united in marriage October 28, 1960 in Olathe, Kansas. To this union 2 sons and 1 daughter were born. Keith and Malinda were married for 25 years.
Malinda enjoyed being involved in PTA where their children went to school. She held all offices at one time or the other. She was room mother for all 3 of her children. She was a stay at home mom and loved it. She was a lobbyist in Topeka, Kansas for Pro-Family for almost 5 years. She always stood up for what she believed in. She was an avid Chiefs and Royals fan. Malinda was the owner of Act II’s Hair Port in Lowry City, Missouri and she absolutely loved fixing hair. She loved her artwork, whether it was oil painting, drawing, ceramics or quilting. She enjoyed cooking for her family. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the whole world to her. She became a fan of the computer, Facebook and email became a big part of her life. She was always looking something up, wanting to learn more. She tried to learn something new everyday. She made her own Christmas and Birthday cards on the computer and enjoyed editing thousands of photos she took.
On May 9, 1987 Malinda met her best friend and love of her life, Bill L. Lysinger. It was love at first sight. They were married December 7, 1987 in Overland Park, Kansas at The Church of Christ. Malinda left the city life and moved to the farm with Bill where they spent their entire married life together.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Lysinger; sons, Keith Irvin (Leann), Earl Irvin (Carla) and James Lysinger (Makayla); daughters, Kim Schussler (Kirk) and Jackie Alexander (Scott); sister, Erlene Nall; special friend, Kathy Frost; former husband, Keith Irvin; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
