We are sad to announce the passing of James Edward Mattheus, of Stockton, Missouri. James died at the age of 43 on April 3rd, 2023, unexpectedly.
He was born May 12th, 1979, in Kansas City, Kansas to Ramona Thornhill and Larry Mattheus. He was raised by Ramona in El Dorado Springs, Missouri. He graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in 1999. After High School he mostly worked in construction, machinery, and mechanics. James never married or had children. He enjoyed a multitude of nieces and nephews.
James is survived by his mother Ramona, stepdad and best friend Bill Thornhill, his five sisters: Mary Kapas (Keaton, Talia and Malayna), Dana Thornhill, Kimberly (Otto) Theilan, Jackie (DJ) Rosenbaum, Christina Davis. Six brothers: William Kapas, Charles (Lindsey) Cole, Billy and Matthew Thornhill, David Jordan, Richard Lockwood, and two very close cousins who are more like sisters, Hazel (Troy) Miller and Jerry (James) Cobos. This also includes a large amount of nieces, nephews, and cousins which are too many to list.
James is preceded in death by his grandma Mary and grandpa Herb Stewart, his uncle Herb Stewart and aunt Thelma Stark.
James loved hunting, fishing, gun collecting, playing video games, cooking, working on projects and classic cars with Bill in his shop. He could figure out anything. He loved showing his nieces and nephews how to do things.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a pot luck dinner after services at the El Dorado Springs City Lyons Park, please bring a side dish.
