Roy Lee McMillin, of Quincy, passed away February 4, 2025, in his home. He was born February 26, 1944, near Quincy, MO, to Oscar and Pauline (Smallwood) McMillin.
Roy Lee graduated from Weaubleau High School in 1961. Roy Lee married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Sutt. They were married in Miami, OK on February 24, 1962. Roy Lee and Sharon started their married life in Kansas City where he worked for a tab card company. Their first child, Sherri Lee, was born in 1964. They moved to Massachusetts for Roy Lee’s job in 1968, where their son, James Keith was born in 1969. They returned to Kansas City in 1969 where Roy opened a service station and later worked for Uhaul.
They returned to Quincy in 1977 and began farming and managing school busses for Weaubleau schools. In 1985, Roy Lee opened Mac’s Service Center in Weaubleau. Additionally, he worked for Empire gas, MFA Propane and the Shadow Lake Golf Course.
Roy Lee loved racing. He drag raced and raced stock cars at the I-70 Speedway and even drove a race at Pike’s Peak. Later in life he continued to enjoy watching his son and grandsons race at the local dirt tracks in Warrensburg and Wheatland. Also, Roy Lee enjoyed playing cards and bingo. Roy Lee loved his family and will be missed by a host of family and friends.
Roy Lee was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law Chipper Routh, a great-grandson Keith McRae Marquis, He is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Sherri Robbins and husband Larry of Humansville, MO; son, James McMillin and wife Melissa of Warrensburg, MO; Six grandchildren: Keith Marquis and wife Stephanie of Collins, MO; Kyle Marquis and wife Amanda of Weaubleau, MO; Luke Routh and wife Olivia of Humansville, MO; Bryce McMillin and wife Heather of Warrensburg, MO; Baylee McMillin of Lees Summit, MO; Blayne McMillin and fiancé Lauren Eagle of Warrensburg, MO. Roy Lee was very proud of his great-grandchildren: Quade and Cash Marquis of Collins, MO; Blaike and Brady Medina, Allyanna, Knox, and Jimmy Marquis of Weaubleau, MO; Aurora Routh of Humansville, MO; Ryker and Maverick McMillin of Warrensburg, MO. He is also survived by one brother, JR McMillin of Quincy, MO and 2 sisters, Shirley Lambeth, of Quincy, MO; Barbara Ott and husband Bob of Quincy, MO; 1 brother-in-law, Marvin Miller and wife Sherida of Bolivar, MO; and sisters-in-law, June Houston of Lees Summit, MO; Judy Freeman and husband Roy of Collins, MO and a host of nieces, nephews and friends whom he loved dearly.
