Roger Lee Melvin, 45, went home to be with the Lord on December 4, 2025.
He was born in Cairo, Illinois on December 31, 1979, to Aaron and Rose Melvin.
Roger was a man whose life was defined by his faith, his work ethic, and his immense love for his family. He passed away doing what he loved—working hard to provide for those he held dearest.
On April 1, 2016, Roger was joined in marriage to Sherri Jo Wilkerson. Through this union, the Melvin and Wilkerson families became forever intertwined, creating a beautiful, blended legacy of love. Roger was a loving husband and a father like no other. To his children, he was simply the best dad in the world.
Roger’s heart was truly for his family. He loved being outside and cherished every moment spent with them, whether he was coaching his kids in various sports or taking his son, Wyatt, on fishing trips or at home dancing with his daughter, Tillie. He was a man who always showed up with a smile and something funny to say, bringing joy to every room he entered.
A dedicated Christian, Roger was very active in the Weaubleau Community Bible Church. He was passionate about sharing his faith, and had recently started a children’s ministry group to teach the youth to love the Lord. He was known for his generous spirit, always ready to offer a helping hand to anyone in need.
Roger is survived by his loving wife, Sherri Jo Melvin; his parents, Aaron and Rose Melvin; children, Aaron Wyatt Melvin, Tillie Rose Melvin, Harley Shawn Wilkerson and Larry Dalton Wilkerson (Katelynn); brothers, Joseph (Trish), Daniel (Lynn), Larry (Kellie), Scott (Jessica); grandchildren, Annabell and Rayden. His loving Aunt Doris; and many nieces and nephews.
He brought a smile to all who knew him, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the community for the outpouring of support, love, and prayers during this difficult time. Your kindness has been a comfort to us all.
Isaiah 57: 1-2
1) Good people pass away.
The Godly often die before their time.
But no one seems to care or wonder why.
No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come.
2) For those who follow Godly paths will rest in peace when they die.
