Marge Moran of Lowry City Mo, passed away November 30th at the age of 101 years old. Marge was born on the Dunning farm in Deepwater, Mo on Sept 14th 1923. Marge was preceded in death by her parents Herb and Leona Dunning, her husband Don, daughter Lenora and siblings Verda, Retha, Eva, Josephine and brother Herbert. Marge is survived by her three sons, David (Linda), Darrel (Cindy) and Dale (Tamilee), son in law Ron Booker (Tina) and her sister Audrey Harleman.
Marge was a graduate of Lowry City High School where she met her husband of 59 years, Don Moran. Marge and Don started their life together farming west of town prior to purchasing Capital Garage on Mahan Street in Lowry City. Don and Marge operated the garage for 25 years, and if you were around Lowry in the 60’s, 70’s, or 80’s you wouldn’t have been surprised to see Marge pumping gas, making a parts run, selling a bus ticket, or making change for a customer at the garage, Marge was a hard worker with a “can-do” attitude. Marge worked hard and played hard too, she loved to fish, square dance, camp and play cards.
Marge, was sharp witted, quick to smile and had more sand than most men. She had a competitive spirit a professional athlete would admire; in fact she told her brother Herb that if he lived to be 100, she would live to 101… and she did. Marge was a wife, sister, mother grandmother, a great and a great great grandmother. She was never mad and was one of the happiest people you could ever hope to meet, It was a rare day indeed if you ever heard her complain about anything.
Finally, my grandma cooked the best scrambled eggs, fried the meanest wild turkey, had the quickest wit, played the sneakiest cards, out worked, out lived and out loved many, and loved only one man… she was an example to us all and we are better for having her in our lives. We will miss her.
