Gladys Lou Parmalee was born May 08, 1941, to William (Vaughn) Snelling and Ursula (Galloway) Snelling. She passed away at her home surrounded by family in Clinton, MO December 9, 2024.
Gladys married Joe Parmalee and to this union four boys were born, Raymond, Donald, Ronnie and Dennis. The two were united in marriage for 55 years before Joe departed this earth in 2016.
Gladys devoted 26 years to Chastains before retiring in 2003. She enjoyed decorating her home, flower gardening, watching the hummingbirds, garage sales and attending auctions with her family. She also enjoyed having her entire family together and often hosted cook outs and holidays. One of her favorite things to do was decorate for Christmas and that usually involved everyone having a job, whether it be hanging lights, digging posts for archways, or helping decorate the tree. She took pride in all that she did. She also enjoyed sitting at the table drinking coffee with her family and friends listening to the many jokes and stories the neighbors shared with her husband. Her coffee pot and hummingbird feeders were never empty.
Gladys was the most loving wife, mother and grandmother. Even when the boys were up to no good and met with a garden hose or racetrack, the love she had for them never had to be second guessed. Her pride and joys were her children (born or blessed in), grandchildren and great grandchildren. She never missed a chance to brag about them. She was always willing to lend a hand, and her kindness and generosity made her friendship valuable and all that knew her loved her.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Joe Parmalee, her parents Vaughn and Ursula Snelling, her siblings Vaughn Snelling and Nancy Nichols, and her son Raymond Parmalee.
She is survived by her sons, Donald (Pam) Parmalee of Lone Jack, Missouri, Ronnie Parmalee of Osceola, Missouri, Dennis (Marty) Parmalee of Clinton, Missouri; 6 Grandchildren Michael Parmalee, Brian Parmalee, Cassandra (Kayla) Parmalee of Osawatomie, Kansas, Desirae Parmalee of Fort Dodge, IA, Ashley (Eric) Blackaby, Joseph (Janelle) Parmalee; 9 great-grandchildren, Scott Parmalee, Jade Parmalee, Grace Parmalee, Jerzey Parmalee, Lorilei Parmalee, Sarah Parmalee, Timber Parmalee, Emersyn Blackaby and Weston Blackaby. 1 sister-in-law, Sandy Young and many other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
