Alma Ailene Ross, dearly loved aunt and friend departed this life Wednesday, November 17, 2021 in Stockton, Missouri. She was the youngest child of Harley Luther and Mary Frances (Baker) Ross. Born June 2, 1934 in Bynumville, Missouri she joined siblings Carlos Harley, Margaret Ellen (Hinkle), and William Wayne.
She graduated from Bynumville High School in 1952: KCCBS with a Bachelor of Arts in 1957; and Pittsburg State Teacher College with a Master’s in English and Literature in 1964 (as a straight A student).
She began teaching high school English in 1957 while also working at St. Luke’s Hospital in the nursery. Following 1964 she continued at KCCBS also teaching Drama. This was very rewarding with both high school and college students. Many friendships were formed which lasted the rest of her life.
Alma began full-time employment at St. Luke’s in Psychiatry in 1971. She used her skills and ability of listening and encouraging others in this secretarial role. There she gained much knowledge in medical terms and illnesses. Dr. Bidwell and Dr. Denner became close friends as well as other medical staff. Her work continued in that field until retirement from Charter Hospital in 1997.
In retirement she moved to El Dorado Springs to be close to family. There she again started teaching English at El Dorado Springs Christian School until 2017.
Of Nall Avenue Nazarene Church since 1977, she was a devoted member. She was a devoted disciple of Jesus in whom was her hope. She became a member of the Community Church of El Dorado Springs where she was quick to be involved in the choir and Vacation Bible School.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings. She is survived by nieces, Beverly and Linda; nephews, Leroy, Keith, Norman and Donald; 14 great nieces and nephews and many friends.
