Ruby Marlene Shinn was born on April 27, 1942, in Sweet Springs, Missouri to Leonard and Emma Kirchhoff. She passed away on January 5, 2026, at the age of 83.
On December 26, 1964, she married John Wesley Shinn, in the Errnestville Lutheran Church in Concordia, Missouri.
Ruby was an educator for the Independence School District for many years. She was also a landlady for many people.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where she was very active in Bible studies, and LWML.
Ruby met with her friends at McDonald’s several times a week. Her passion was sending cards to everyone, for every occasion.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Emma Kirchhoff; sister, Verna Mae Bredehoft; brothers, Harold, Norbert, Delmar, and Merle Kirchhoff.
Ruby is survived by her husband, John Wesley Shinn; sons, Kenny Shinn (Mercy), Jeremy Shinn, Kenny Lee Ward (Allison); daughter, Jenny Shinn (Steve McLaughlin); granddaughters, Makenzie and Melissa Shinn; grandson, Aengus McLaughlin.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Iconium Cemetery, or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, in care of Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home: P.O. Box 384 Osceola, Missouri 64776.
