Patty Lou (Murphey) Sammons was born January 19, 1937, in Ohio, Missouri to Fred and Wilma (Marshall) Murphey. She passed away November 4, 2024, at her home in Independence, Missouri.
Patty graduated from Lowry City High School in 1955. She met and married James Cecil Buckner in August of 1955, to this union four children were born: Douglas James Buckner in 1956, William Eldon Buckner in 1960, Cindy Lou Buckner in 1961, and Jeffrey Lorne Buckner in 1962. Patty and James raised their family in Kansas City, Missouri, until their separation in 1971.
Later, Patty eloped to Elvis Sammons in 1986, in Oklahoma. She enjoyed gathering with family and friends. Some moments she is well known for is her Halloween events, she would put up bowling pins for the neighborhood children, cake walks and of course hand out candy. Patty was a blast to be around, she was always smiling, and hardly ever complained.
Patty was preceded in death by her children William Eldon, and Cindy Lou Buckner, husband Elvis Sammons in 2004, sister Lela Thomas, her stepson Randall Sammons, and grand-daughter Jennifer Hessenflow.
She is survived by sons: Douglas James, and Jeffrey Lorne Buckner, sister Doris Murphey, stepchildren: Kathy Hessenflow, and Lynda Beshears, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a lot of friends.
