He pastored several churches in Illinois and Missouri during his 48 years in ministry as well as serving as a chaplain at Golden Valley Hospital in Clinton, Missouri. His ministry was characterized by boldness, optimism, faith, encouragement, joy, determination and intentionality. He was always looking for ways to share the gospel of Christ with everyone he met and develop disciples who could do the same.
When he wasn’t hard at work, Cott’s favorite pastime was hunting. He loved to hunt quail and coons. He enjoyed raising and training dogs for hunting. Cott was proud of his family and was always ready to entertain his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He modeled love and dedication as he cared for Loraine in her later years with Alzheimer’s. He never wavered in his commitment to her and her care.
