Lula Kathryn was born on January 25, 1934 to Paul Jackson Crawford and Lula (Foster) Crawford at their home in the Talley Bend area of Lowry City, Missouri. She was born with only kerosene lamps for lights as there was no electricity. Her grandma Flora Foster, who had been a school teacher and was a midwife assisted the doctor with her birth. The doctor told her parents they had a boy but when her grandma took her to clean and wrap her up, she informed them they had a girl, not a boy.
As a girl Kathryn and her family attended Wright’s Creek church that also served as a one room schoolhouse. It was at that church that she accepted the Lord as her Savior and was baptized in the Osage river. She attended that school and graduated the 8th grade there.
She then attended Lowry City high school and graduated in 1951.
Kathryn was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart Johnnie Flay Snyder on October 20, 1951 by preacher Amos Jackson at Amos and Mildred’s home in Lowry City. They moved to Independence, Missouri where Johnnie worked as a sprinkler fitter.
They were blessed with 4 children. Johnnie Steven, Janet Louise, Danny Eugene, and Deborah Gayle.
When Kathryn was 36, she learned to drive and went to work in the cafeteria at William Chrisman junior high. Later when that school closed, she worked at William Chrisman high school.
They purchased property in Lowry City and enjoyed going there most weekends enjoying their place and family.
After she lost her husband on November 16, 1998, she devoted her time taking care of people. She took many bus trips with Richard’s Fun Times tour. She could tell you everyplace they went, what they did and saw.
Throughout her life she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her grandkids brought her so much joy.
She moved to town in Lowry City into her parents’ home and spent many years there connecting with friends and making special new friends. She loved to go to lunch, play cards and visit with them.
She continued to drive to Independence to spend time with her family as long as she was able.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Lula Crawford, her son Steven, her brother Paul Franklin Crawford and his wife Donna Sue, her daughter Janet, her son-in-law Michael Lipari, special friend Marion Lebow, and may other dear family members and friends.
She is survived by Shelia, wife of her late son Steven Snyder, their son Jeremy (Alana) their children Dylan and Dakota, their other son Matthew (Jennifer) their children Kirsten, Kane (Kelli) their daughters Kambri and Kessler. Dana Drumheller (Chris) daughter of the late Janet McCarty, their children Christopher, Katie and her son Landon. Daughter Debbie Lipari (Fred Kuntze), Debbie’s daughter Amy Dehghani (David) their children Hannah, Kennedy Lilah and London. Debbie’s son Brandon Klotz (Amanda), their daughter piper. Gina Snead (JD) their daughters Joslyn and Taylor (Nick) Kendra Greenwood (Alan) and their child Bryce and Morgan (Spencer) Son Danny Snyder and family. Her brother Dale Crawford (Lorene). As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
