Susan Dorothy Hughes, 78, of Jerico Springs, Missouri passed away peacefully at her home on July 30, 2026. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and her presence will be deeply missed.
Susan was born September 21, 1947, in New York, the daughter of the late Richard and Eileen (Lampeter) Ehrhart. She graduated from Earl L Vandermeulen High School, New York, in 1965. Following graduation she attended Suffolk County Community College to obtain her Degree in Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. After working in the state of New York a few years, she moved to Florida working in a hospital and continued caring for patients. While in FL she met Donald W. Hughes, and they were united in marriage on June 4, 1988, in Ocala, FL. Don and Susan moved to Missouri to make their home in Jerico Springs. There Susan worked countless hours as a Home Health Nurse working out of El Dorado Springs Community Hospital until she retired in 2009.
Susan enjoyed traveling with family, reading, gardening, canning, baking, but mostly spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include: her husband of thirty-eight years, Donald W. Hughes; one daughter Donna (Shane) Hughey of Cedarcreek, MO; two sons, Christopher Godwin of Jerico Springs, and Sean (Jennifer) Godwin of Jefferson City, MO; one step-son Clint (Christina) Hughes of Lamar, MO; four grandchildren, Emilia Godwin, Kaleb Godwin, Tobyas Godwin, Pheona Godwin; one step grandson Darryl Hughes; two step granddaughters Alyssa Hughes and Lily Hughes; six brothers, Richard (Sharon) Ehrhart, John (Elaine) Ehrhart, Jacob (Signe) Ehrhart, Daniel Ehrhart, Martin Ehrhart, Andrew (Barbara) Ehrhart; and numerous nieces and nephews.
