Mike Thompson (Baitman), 75, of Osceola , Missouri passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Centerpoint Medical Hospital in Independence, Missouri, after air flighted from Golden Valley Hospital, Clinton Missouri Intensive Care. Mike suffered heart problems and respiratory sickness since 2020.
Mike was a retired welder. He was previously employed at Harleman Mfg of Eldorado Springs, Missouri. His earlier years employed at Caterpillar in Joliet, Illinois of 18 years. Mike enjoyed fishing, hunting, and drinking beer with friends. He was one of a kind to all. Mike started a bait business in Osceola, Missouri between jobs.
Surviving are his wife married of 42 years; the former Lynn Glogowski Thompson of Osceola, Missouri, whom he married of July 4, 1983, in Kankakee Illinois. Mike has two surviving brothers, Gary Thompson of Nalcrest, Florida; Scott Thompson and wife Cindy of Kankakee, Illinois; two sisters, Lori Goss of Wilmington, Illinois, and Tina Hull and husband Terry of LaRable, Illinois. One son, Terry Thompson of Bradley, Illinois, one stepson JR Griswold of Deepwater, Missouri, one stepdaughter Kelly Griswold of Saint Peters, Missouri. Many nieces, nephews, grandsons, granddaughters, and cousins whom he loved and made laugh by his character.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill Thompson; Gail Fortin; and a brother Rick Thompson.
Mike was cremated. No services are planned. All loved him so much, he will be missed by everyone.
