Wood, Billy D. October 16, 1942 - December 3, 2016

Billy Dee Wood was born October 16, 1942 near Osceola, Missouri to Lester Lee Wood and Hazel Lucretia (Cox) Wood. He passed away at his home near Harper, Missouri on December 3, 2016 with family by his side.

At the age of 5 Bill was diagnosed with polio which caused him to be in and out of the hospital throughout his childhood years, also requiring him to use a full length brace throughout his whole life, but he never felt he had a handicap and always showed a smile to everyone.

Bill and his father started a dairy farm which lasted over 40 years and also raised stock cattle. He always enjoyed checking his stock cattle with his grandsons.

He enjoyed deer hunting with his buddies Bob Moore, Ron Nichols and Dean Pelcher.

Bill and Frances Anderson were married on April 17, 1972 in the home of Reverend Harper in Osceola, Missouri

Billy Wood was always admired by many in his age group. At school or on the school bus his attitude was really great. He never let his brace get in the way of friendship or doing anything he wanted to do. He should be remembered for never feeling sorry for himself and always being independent.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Estel Wood.

Bill is survived by his wife Frances, of the home; sons, BillII and wife Teresa Wood of Osceola, Missouri and John Wood of Osceola, Missouri; daughters Hazel Wood of Osceola, Missouri and Patty Wood of Osceola, Missouri; step-daughter Richelle Powell of Little Elm, Texas; sister, Rebecca Jean Thomas of Osceola, Missouri; 7 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter (that he adored); other relatives and many friends.
