Dennis Wayne Woody was born July 16, 1950 in Modesto, California. He is the oldest son of Raymond Martin and Helen Marie Woody. He passed away at his home near Monegaw Springs, Missouri July 28, 2015.
After moving to Missouri to be raised in Monegaw Springs with his brothers Steven Martin and Larry Michael Woody he attended elementary school through the 8th grade at Roscoe. When he graduated 8th grade at Roscoe he started high school in Appleton City and soon graduated from Appleton City High School. Following high school Wayne took some college courses to be a commercial engineer.
On December 6, 1985 Wayne was united in marriage to Sharon Loter of Mt. Vernon, Arkansas. Wayne and Sharon Woody resided on the Woody family farm until Sharon’s passing in January of 2014 and Wayne’s in July of 2015.
He was known by many names such as Woody, Wayne and Wood-Eye. Wayne was a hard worker and a loving family man. In his free time he loved to crack jokes, spend time with his family and work on his farm. He had a love for horses and talked non stop about his donkeys. Wayne was very dedicated to his job. The only time he would take off work was to help take care of his wife Sharon. He spent 40 years working in the telephone communications industry.
Wayne was the proud father of Toby Loter (Cori), Clint Dutcher (Kerri), Kenneth Woody (Shelly) and Dennis Woody, Jr.; grandfather of Madison, Tanner and Logan; Matt, Mikayla and Mason; Logan and Brady; Brooke, Brina, Brock, Brianna and Brett; Denise, Garrett and Denise, Garrett and Dravon; great-grandfather of Shyanne, Tynsley, Emma, Kolton and Logan; brother of Steven Martin Woody and wife Candy Kay Woody, Larry Michael Woody and wife Sondra L. Woody; brother and sister-in-laws, Mark and Dianne Loter, Karen and Timothy McCarthy; and uncle to many nieces and nephews whom he cherished
Wayne was a great friend to many. He was loved and admired by everyone who knew him. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. We will miss his kind heart and unique laugh.
