Dorothy Marie Wynes, 80, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, January 16, 2015. Dorothy was born, June 7, 1934, in DeSoto, Kansas, to her parents, Robert Price Knox and Dorthy Priscilla Asbury. She was united in marriage to Robert E Wynes on September 22, 1956. To this union, 8 children were born.
Dorothy was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and cherished her photo albums. She was independent, but also a very loving, caring person to all who knew her.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E Wynes; two daughters, Thelma J Knox and Mary Ann Parmalee, and grandson, Jonathon Ray Fields.
She is survived by three sons and their spouses, Robert Lee Wynes, John Henry Wynes; Mark E Wynes and three daughters and their spouses, Sally Jean Jones, Sherry L Fields, and Dellas Dawn (Hoppie) Colby, 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many other extended family and friends.
Dorothy lived a simple, but hard life. She was very independent and could be a little ornery at times. She gave so much to everyone that knew her, and asked for very little in return. Life threw her some unfortunate circumstances and her willpower carried her through them.
Dorothy did not have expensive tastes or live a flashy lifestyle, because she knew what was most important to her and that was her family and friends.
She loved so many things. A few things to mention: She loved Elvis and Alan Jackson and other what she called “handsome” men. She loved Country Music, Western Movies, and playing cards. In her younger years, she loved to Dance. She loved her dog and cherished her pictures and photo albums. But Most of All, she loved spending time with her family (kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids).
She was a kind and caring person. She was also straight forward, and if you made her mad, she let you know it. Although, she still had the heart to forgive and it was easy for her to say two little words that so many people can’t say and that’s “I’m sorry”. Everyone that knew Dorothy could tell a story or two.
Her kids would tell — when they were young, it did not matter how long you stayed outside hiding, “Mom didn’t forget what you did to get in trouble” when you came back in the house. Her grandkids would tell – How she would tell them to quit having water fights in the house, and then next thing you know, she is dumping a cup of water on you.
Her great-grandkids would say – The very 1st thing you do when you go to Grandma Dorothy’s is you better give her Hugs&Kisses or she is coming after you. At some point, that would also be true for all of her family and friends.
She was always there for us. Be thankful for the memories of good times that she has left behind. We owe it to her to support and look after one another and show the same love and forgiveness that she had for each of us.
She has gone to a much better place. There are no worries, no pain and suffering, and to a place where she can Dance again.
