On December 2, 2023. Albert Davis, known by many as A Joe Davis, bid this world farewell, at home with his family by his side. A Joe was a caring and loving husband and a persistent and protective father, and a true friend to many.  He was always one that if someone was in need, he would provide, even if that meant he would do without. A Joe was very selfless in his generosity, especially towards those who meant the most to him.
A Joe was born in Iconium, and at the age of five his family moved to Lowry City. At the age of eighteen, A Joe left his hometown and joined the Army, after serving our country and enjoying all that the military had to offer overseas, he found his way back home and eventually settled down with his wife, Sylvia Davis. Having seen what the big cities had to offer they decided to build their home “the farm” in the countryside of the Lowry city area. Where they remained for the entirety of their lives.

Throughout his life, A Joe was always involved in the community in one way or another. He served in various positions throughout the years in the Optimist Club, Community Betterment, American Legion, and for a time served as the mayor of Lowry City.

A Joe wore many hats throughout his life from the owner of the Commercial hotel and café to Farm Bureau agent, and the owner of PaPa Joe’s drive inn.

A Joe was an avid writer and took his love of journalism and turned it into the Missouri Chigger. At some point in time, this little publication turned into a full-time job, where A Joe and Sylvia were able to share small-town stories with readers all over the United States, and a few overseas. While delivering the Chigger to businesses, A Joe would take some time to shop around and his collection of “stuff” continued to grow until eventually, he had two full-time jobs. He was a journalist and antiquities dealer. The love of antiques later led A Joe and his brothers Dean and Dennis to open the Davis Bro’s Antique Mall. A Joe was very proud of this business that he and the brothers started, and again they were able to touch many people, from many places, all the while doing what he loved.

A Joe did not know a stranger. Most of the time, that was a good thing but there was always a chance that the morning coffee conversations at the Landmark would get a bit “colorful”. Regardless of how those conversations ended or how wrong the other person’s political beliefs were, A Joe still considered those people friends. A Joe was a prominent fixture in the Lowry city area and every trip with him was an adventure.

We will miss A Joe, in one way or another. He is no longer in pain and is once again reunited with his loving wife Sylvia. His family just hopes that Sylvia can clear some space in Heaven because A Joe has likely stopped by an antique store on his way there.

A Joe was born on September 8th, 1946, to Albert Jefferson and Helen Davis, who preceded him in death. A Joe was also preceded in death by his brothers Al Davis, and Ray Davis, son Rick Davis, and loving wife Sylvia Davis.
A Joe is survived by his sons Jon Michael Davis, Isaac Jeremy Davis (wife Christy), Jeff Davis, and Tim Davis (wife Mishawn), grandchildren Kristin Clark (husband Kaleb), Kimberly Bicknell (husband Eric), Hunter Davis, Makayla Davis, Jimmy Jones (wife Katie), Chris Jones (wife Allissa), Jacob Davis, Jordan Davis, Lucas Davis, and Kymira, brothers Dean Davis (wife Nora), Dennis Davis, and Chuck Davis (wife Kathy), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, great-grandchildren, and numerous friends.

So sorry to learn of the passing of both A J & Sylvia . Unfortunately, I never had the honor & privilege to meet either of them personally, but knew them thru the pages
of “The Chigger,” & welcomed them into my home monthly. Was kinda like receiving a letter from a close friend or family member when it arrived. Rest in Peace, you are missed…..
