Leatrice “Gabby” (Knight) Anderson, 76, passed away Friday, December 21, 2012 at Community Springs Healthcare in El Dorado Springs. Gabby was born on January 5, 1936 at home in the Chalk Level area of St. Clair County on January 5, 1936, to Ralph and Edith Myrle (Shoemaker) Knight. Gabby was married to Eugene Carter, and to this union, two daughters were born, Hope and Faith. Later in life, Gabby was married to Lester Veach, and to this union two sons, John and Ben, were born. Later she was married to Robert Anderson. Gabby worked for many years as a certified nurse aid and a certified medication technician at nursing homes. She eventually came to own Gabby’s Cafe in Creighton, MO for several years and was known for her good, old-fashioned home cooking. After retiring and moving to Rockville, Gabby kept busy crocheting, sewing, and braiding rugs. She was always willing to help her family and friends, and was considered by many as a second mother. Gabby is survived by daughter Hope (Carter) Berschauer, son John Veach, son and daughter-in-law Ben and Christina Veach; brother and sister-in-law Myron “Sparky” and and Peggy Knight, brother and sister-in-law Stanley and Martha Knight; and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Edith M. (Shoemaker) Knight, her sister Marilyn (Knight) Motley, her husband Robert Anderson, her great-granddaughter Justice, and her daughter Faith Marie (Carter) Little.
