Virgil John Beaty, 82, died from glioblastoma brain cancer at his home in Clinton, MO. Virgil is survived by his wife of 61 years Patsy, two daughters Teresa (Ronny) Galloway and Yvonne (Bob) Pierce, and two brothers Buddy Beaty and Bob Beaty, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Virgil will be greatly missed by his friends and family, but we are thankful for the time we had with him and that he is at peace in Heaven.
In 1953, Virgil graduated from Lowry City High School and went into the Air Force. After serving in the Air Force, Virgil obtained a mechanical engineering degree. Virgil was the Vice-President of Engineering at Fairbanks Morse in Kansas City when he retired and he enjoyed doing engineering consulting work for them until his cancer diagnosis. Virgil greatly appreciated the value of education which led to his and Patsy’s establishment of the Lakeland Scholarship Fund.
An avid golfer, he was a member of the Clinton Country Club and served on their board of directors. Virgil actively contributed to ongoing improvements to the golf course and relished playing in their tournaments and socializing with members.
Virgil was also an active member of the First Baptist Church in Clinton. We would like to thank all who provided such excellent support during his illness and specially acknowledge the exceptional care provided by Twin Lakes Hospice.
