John Gregory “JG” Benigar was born February 17, 1954 to Helen (Sullivan) (Benigar) Lawson and John Riley (J.R.) Benigar in Clinton Missouri.

After his parent’s divorce, J.G. spent much of his young childhood at his Grandpa Cliff and Grandma Savilla Sullivan’s Capital Garage which his grandpa built. He had many fond memories of his time there. He attended school in Raytown, but spent every summer on his grandmother Blanche Benigar’s farm in Lowry City. After graduation, he moved to Lowry City where he met Donna Moffett.

J.G. and Donna were united in marriage on July 4th, 1983. To this union they soon welcomed Gregory in 1984, Danielle in 1989, and Anna in 1992.

J.G. loved the outdoors and worked for several area farmers and for Stinnett’s Feed Store. He worked for Scott’s Holiday Corral as a RV Tech for many years, but he found his calling when he began work as the maintenance man at Castle  Court Apartment Complex. He loved serving “his residents”. During his life, he spent many years as a volunteer firefighter and first responder with the Lowry City Fire Department.

J.G. was a man of strong faith and conviction, He gave his life to Christ in 1988 and never looked back. He love to tell others about three things: God, his children and his grandbabies. He never knew a stranger. If he met you, he considered you a friend.

He won his battle with cancer on August 28, 2025, surrounded by his family as he stepped from this world into Heaven. He lived his life for that moment.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Blanche Binegar, his maternal grandparents, Cliff and Savilla Sullivan, his father, J.R. Benigar, his mother Helen Lawson, his aunt Helen (Benigar) Wingfield, his uncle Sandford Benigar, his aunt Aleene Gilkey, as well as many beloved great uncles.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Donna, his children Gregory Benigar, Danielle (Cory) Brophy and Anna Benigar, his granddaughters, Judith, JoeAnna,  and Juniper Brophy, his sister, Ginger (Kermit) Pritchett and family, and many other relatives and friends.
