Jon “Rod” Roderick Bledsoe was born May 23, 1960 in Kansas City, Missouri to Clifford Leroy Bledsoe and Joyce Corene (Watson) Bledsoe. He passed away in Joplin, Missouri September 29, 2019.
He was united in marriage to Carla Sue Jenkins in 1981. This union was blessed with 2 daughters, Cayla and Becky.
Rod was a commissioned police officer in two states. He served as a homicide detective on the Kansas City Metro Squad. He was also a volunteer fire fighter for the El Dorado Springs Fire Department and a proud member of the El Dorado Springs Masonic Lodge for many years. Rod had a dedicated life to servitude. He was the owner of Boondocks Marine in El Dorado Springs for 13 years.
He was saved by the grace of God through the blood of Jesus Christ. Rod was a member of the Freedom Missionary Baptist Church of Stockton.
Rod enjoyed making people laugh and was a real go getter. He could have multiple tasks going at the same time and never break a sweat to complete them.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Joyce (Watson) Bledsoe; sister, Debbie Johnson; niece, Heather Bledsoe and nephew, Billy Johnson.
Rod is survived by his wife of 37 years Carla (Jenkins) Bledsoe of El Dorado Springs, Missouri; daughters, Cayla Bledsoe of Appleton City, Missouri and Becky (Josh) Nickels of Waynesville, Missouri; brothers, Richard (Patty) Bledsoe of Independence, Missouri, Tom (Michelle) Bledsoe of Deepwater, Missouri; sister, Pam Shulfer of Redmond, Oregon along with several grandchildren, cousins, nephews and a niece.
