Breeden, Charles Phillip September 10, 1934 - September 25, 2014

Charles Phillip Breeden was born on September 10, 1934 to Robert H. and Pansy (Culbertson) Breeden. He departed this world on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Lee’s Summit Medical Center. Phil was raised on a farm near Roscoe, MO. He attended Benton Green and Roscoe Elementary Schools and graduated from Roscoe High School in 1952 as class President and Salutatorian. Upon graduation he went to Kansas City and was employed at KC Power & Light until enlisting in the Army in July 1955. He was honorably discharged in July 1958. Most of this time was spent in Hawaii. Phil was united in marriage to Joyce Garver on November 15, 1958. To this union two children were born, Phillip and Michelle. Phil spent most of his working years in the automotive industry owning his own business, working at car dealerships as a mechanic, supervisor and shop foreman, as well as working many hours keeping family and friends vehicles repaired—a job he thoroughly enjoyed. Phil was an avid race car fan and for a few years drove and raced at various race tracks around Kansas City. Phil, in his spare time enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and lake activities. He was always available and thoroughly enjoyed attending the grandchildren’s activities. Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert and Pansy Breeden and brother, Bobbie. Phil is survived by his wife Joyce, son Phillip and daughter Michelle, four grandchildren, Jessica (Travis) Shipley, Jason Breeden, Grant Bushman, Hannah Bushman and two great grandchildren Tanner and Jenna Shipley, brother Sam Breeden and wife Linda, brother in-law, Robert (Kathy) Garver, sister in-law Brenda (Ross) Chambers, along with many nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Larry. Phil enjoyed life at the fullest and will be greatly missed by family and many, many friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 1st at 11 AM at Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel with burial in the Pleasant Springs (Oyer) Cemetery, The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 10 AM until service time in the funeral home.
