Broughton, Kenneth Hughes October 7, 1922 - March 15, 2012

Kenneth Hughes Broughton was born October 7, 1922 in Harwood, MO to Frank and Ethel (Hughes) Broughton. He passed away at his home in El Dorado Springs, MO on March 15, 2012 at the age of 89. Kenneth was raised on a farm in Harwood, MO and graduated from Walker High School. After graduation he worked as a painter in Kansas City, MO. From 1943 to 1946, he served his country as a military policeman in the US Army during War II. After the war, Kenneth came to El Dorado Springs, MO, where he and his brother in-law owned and operated a mechanic garage. During this time he met and married Charlene Carter on October 8, 1950. To this union one daughter, LaDanta Sue Broughton was born. Kenneth worked at General Motors in Kansas City, MO for a short time before returning to El Dorado Springs where he worked for the city’s municipal power plant and later the water department. He worked for KAMO Electric for twenty years before retiring in 1987. Kenneth enjoyed working outside, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren. He became a Christian and was baptized as a young man. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, El Dorado Springs, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dr. Keith Broughton. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Charlene of the home, daughter LaDanta Bush and husband, Mike, El Dorado Springs, MO, grandchildren, Amber (Bush) Beltram and husband Brandon, Wichita, KS, Rodney Bush, USAF Tucson, AZ, Alicia (Bush) Bland and husband Trent, El Dorado Springs, MO and Lori (Bush) Wallace and husband, Doug, Liberal, MO; great grandchildren, Mikah Beltram, Paityn Bland, Weston, Kaylee and Katelyn Wallace; sisters, Fern McMullin, Kansas City, MO, Gladean Higgins and husband, Charles, Kansas City, MO, sister in-law, betty Broughton, Blue Springs, MO, several nieces, nephews and special friends.
