Robert “Bob” Medlin Cary was
born September 13, 1936, died August 19, 2023, at the age of 86.
Bob was the youngest of four children born to Lee S. Cary and Mary
Grace (Medlin) Cary of Iconium, MO.
He graduated from Osceola High School and was drafted in 1958. Bob
joined the Army as a Private and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He
was honorably discharged from overseas as a Seargent in 1962.
After returning home, Bob started work at Avon in Kansas City and then
hired by Bendix, which eventually became Allied Signal, and finally
Honeywell. He retired after working in the same plant for 50 years.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Lee & Grace and siblings,
William Cary, John Cary, Jean Cary Reese and his former wife, Patsy
Carter Garrison Cary.
He is survived by step-daughters: Patty & Jeff Jones of the home;
Melody & Glen Joplin of Osceola, grandsons: Jeffrey Robert & Sarah
Jones from right down the road; Taylor Joplin of Mission, KS; Patrick
Joplin of Springfield, granddaughters: Ivy Charlene & Michael Vine of the
home; Amy Elizabeth & Jesse Case of Collins; Ginny L. & Alex Myers of
Stockton, great-grandchildren include Christopher Robert Case, Jordan
Jones, Chase Hill, Emma Case, Grace Hill, Carter Case, Faith Taylor,
Robin Witt, Cherish Witt, Jayden Kelley, Lexin Myers, Vandon Vine &
Violet Vine and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, Bob requested that donations be made to the Liberty
Baptist Church in Iconium, MO.
