Cochran, Jo Ann March 7, 1929 - April 2, 2013

Jo Ann (Hair) Cochran, age 84, was born in Butler, Missouri on March 7, 1929, to Abba and Hazel (Crosslen) Hair and passed away April 2, 2013 after a twenty-nine month illness. She was one of eleven children and she grew up in the Butler and Adrian areas. Jo Ann was baptized at the age of twelve. Jo Ann attended school up to the eighth grade. At sixteen years old Jo Ann worked as a nurse. She worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, General Hospital in Clinton, Missouri, Nevada Hospital in Nevada, Missouri and Osceola Hospital for Dr. Giesler in Osceola, Missouri, and retired from nursing in 1968. Jo Ann met Merle Cochran and was married on March 12, 1948 in Independence, Missouri. Jo Ann loved to cook large meals for her family and neighbors as well as gardening and sewing. She helped on her farm for thirty-eight years selling Grade A milk and dairy farming, serving three years on the FHA board before retiring in 1990. She was preceded in death by one brother, Bud; four sisters, Margaret, Betty, Mary and Sally; and one infant daughter, Katherine Loraine in 1954. Jo Ann is survived by her husband of sixty-five years, Merle of the home; one son, Buell of El Dorado Springs, Missouri; three grandchildren, Scott Cochran, Shelly Breedlove, and Misty Cochran; five great grandchildren, Tylan, Brittany, Blake, William and Zoyie; four sisters, Peggy of Windsor, Missouri, Katy, Linda, Judy, all from Kansas City, Missouri; one brother, William of El Dorado Springs, Missouri; and a host of friends.
