John Lee Colby Jr. was born on March 12, 1959, to John Colby and Helen (Humphrey) Colby. He departed this life on January 11, 2025, at the age of 65 years. John was preceded in death by his father, John Colby Sr., mother Helen Minor, and sister Debbie Reed. John was a Christian and always had a close relationship with God. He was a delight to be around and was always eager to help others. John was the kind of guy that would give the shirt off his own back. As a child, John’s father was the AirForce and the moved around a lot, and at one point lived in Japan for four years. John grew up to be a free spirit who loved adventure and travel. He worked as a tile setter, doing flooring with his brother Curtis, traveling all over the country, including Hawaii, until his knees gave out and he had to retire from the flooring business. John did other things for work, being a jack of all trades. He was an avid fisherman and loved to go fishing and noodling. He also enjoyed hunting for arrowheads, and flint rock, and would make arrowheads and jewelry, some of which he would sell in his brother Roger’s store. John was an artistic person. He loved to draw and was very talented. Above everything else, John loved his friends and family and enjoyed being around those that he loved. He loved being a dad and spending time with his daughters Connie and Joni. He would often take them out to eat and to go shopping. He also liked to take his girls out to enjoy the outdoors, going on walks, fishing, and arrowhead hunting. John loved all his family and friends. He enjoyed being around people and partying. He was a fun-loving guy who knew that “It ain’t easy being cheesy”, and will be greatly missed by many.
