Crabtree, Bill W. April 13, 1938 - March 14, 2016

Billy Wayne Crabtree was born on April 13, 1938 to John D. Crabtree and Ruth Lavonne (Hood) Crabtree in Iconium, Missouri. He passed away March 14, 2016 at his home in Iconium.

He attended grade school at the Liberty School House near Iconium and high school in Osceola where he was proud to be a member of the Osceola Indians basketball team. He graduated in 1956 and joined the Marine Corp shortly thereafter.

Bill served as the St. Clair County Assessor for 27 years and was also involved in many organizations, including the Saddle Club and the Rotary Club, as well as being a volunteer and founder of the Iconium Fire Protection District for 25 years and served as Fire Chief and later on the Board of Directors. While Bill enjoyed many activities, he never gave up his love of farming and raising livestock. Bill valued greatly the many friendships he made throughout his lifetime.

He married Deanna (Claunch) Crabtree on June 14, 1963 in Girard, Kansas. To this union was born 1 son and 1 daughter, John William and Angela Sue Crabtree.

Bill was preceded in death by his father and mother; 2 half-brothers, Forest and Joyce Crabtree, 1 half-sister, Wilma Crabtree and a son, John William Crabtree.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years; his daughter, Angela and husband Randy Polson; 2 grandchildren, Amber Polson and Ashton Robbins and husband Travis; 2 great-grandchildren, Tristan and Parker Robbins; 1 sister, Sue Shepherd, as well as 1 nephew, 3 nieces, several great nieces and nephew and many cousins.
