Crawford, James A. January 25, 1936 - March 14, 2015

James Andrew Crawford Sr., 79, of rural El Dorado Springs, entered into eternal peace on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Cedar County Memorial Hospital in El Dorado Springs, Missouri.

Jim (Jimmy) was born in Windsor, Missouri, on January 25, 1936, to Thomas and Lou Zetta Folsom Crawford. Jim attended Roseland School and as an adult he always looked forward to catching up with old classmates at the annual school reunion. On August 26, 1955, in Clifton City, he was married to Betty Jean Bowman. Early in their marriage Jim and Betty lived in the Windsor area, before moving to rural El Dorado Springs in 1969.

Jim was a very hard worker, which became evident when he had to quit school and take on a job at an early age, due to his father’s illness and death. Many times in his life he worked two or three jobs to provide for his family, working in the Windsor Shoe Factory during the day and hauling hay at night. Jim never knew a stranger; everywhere he went, it didn’t matter how far from home it was, he would always run into someone he knew. If someone needed help, he would be the first to step up to assist; but he was slow to ask for help in return. Jim loved sharing stories of the days gone by, telling jokes, and pulling pranks on family and friends. He loved to hunt, fish, working on lawnmowers and boat motors, playing cards, and pitching horseshoes; but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

In addition to Betty, his wife of 57 ½ years, Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Ray Gene; his grandson, Justin Michael; son in-law, Alfred Quick; two sisters, Emma Crawford and Jean Pirtle; and two brothers, William (Bill) Crawford and Norman (Ray) Crawford.

He is survived by a daughter, Diana Quick (Joe), of El Dorado Springs; two sons, Jim (Diane), of El Dorado Springs, and Darryl (Kelly), of Roscoe; 6 grandchildren, Doug Crawford; Angie Jones (Timmy), Bryan Crawford (Kathy), Cliff, Logan, and Danny Lee; four great granddaughters, Makayla, Morgan, and Madison Jones, and Tiffany Crawford; and two great grandsons, Jon Mart and Skylar Crawford; three sisters, Louise Bowne, of Huntsville, Mo; Linda Bowman (Charles), of Purdy, Mo; and Anita Von Cannon, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; two brothers, Kenneth (Carol), of Festus, Mo; and Robert (Debbie) of Lebanon, Mo; numerous other loving family, friends and his beloved dog, Fred.
