Paul Franklin Crawford was born to Paul and Lula (Foster) Crawford October 13, 1935 at his Grandma Fosters’ home. Being the fall of the year they had many apples and the doctor charged a bushel of apples for delivering him. He was a loving son and brother. Paul passed away peacefully November 17, 2009 at his home on the same couch that sixteen years ago he lost his beloved wife, while holding her in his arms.
Paul Franklin was united in marriage to Donna Sue Holland March 6, 1957 at his parents’ home in the Tally Bend community near Lowry City. Paul and Donna met when she was fourteen and were high school sweethearts. She preceded him in death on January 18, 1993. This happy union was blessed with three sons.
Early in their married life they moved to the Kansas City, Missouri area and then to Independence where they made their home. Paul worked at Western Auto, retiring after 45 years.
He was saved at an early age at Wright’s Creek and baptized in the Osage River. Later he transferred his membership to Rockwood Baptist Church where he was a faithful member until his death.
Paul was a very special person to his family and all that knew him. He carried a silver dollar in his pocket for 30 some years. When ever visiting his mother and sister in the country, instead of saying “good-bye” when he was ready to leave he would say that he was going to go see what was going on, but whenever you asked him if he found out he would say he didn’t.
Paul was also preceded in death by his parents Paul and Lula Foster and son in-law, Johnnie Snyder. He is survived by his three sons, Paul David Crawford, and wife, Synda, and sons, Paul Zachary and Jonathan, Kearney, MO; Mark Crawford and wife, Terri, Independence, MO; Kent Crawford and Beth Berkstresser of Independence, MO, son, Mitchell and fiancé, Jodi Schuenemeyer, daughter, Hailey, son, Hayden Berkstresser and daughter, Olivia Berkstresser; sister, Lula Kathryn Snyder; brother, Leslie Dale and wife, Lorene, sister in-law, Dixie Peterson and husband, Howard; brother in-law, Gordon Holland and wife Karen, many nieces and nephews, friends and loved ones.
