Ruby M. Dempsey was born March 24, 1931 in Warsaw, Missouri to Elmer and Eva Byrd Elliot. She passed away November 6, 2018 at St. Lukes South in Kansas City, Kansas.
She grew up in the Osceola, Missouri area. On June 5, 1965 she was united in marriage to James Dempsey in Osceola, Missouri by Rev. Merlin Shively. Their early married life was spent in Kansas City, Missouri. They moved to Clinton, Missouri in 1970 and have made their home there ever since.
Ruby loved to fish, loved to quilt and sew. She really enjoyed spending time and cooking for her family. Ruby looked forward to her time going to garage sales.
She was preceded in death by two sons, John Wesley O’Banion and Ronald Lee O’Banion; one daughter, Virginia Belle O’Banion; four sisters, Hazel Quick, Jeneitta Pollard Baker, Mildred June Anderson and Annie Jones; two brothers, Cleo Elliott and Joe Elliott.
Ruby is survived by her husband of 53 years, James Dempsey, of the home; three daughters, France Diane Robinson, Michelle Kay McClure and Christy McClure; one son, Mark McClure and wife Jackie; one brother, Elmer Lee Elliott and wife Lois; nine grandchildren; several great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She will be greatly missed.
