(Hazel) Ileene Eastin was born at home in Pettis County Missouri, on the family farm, August 22, 1939 to John W and Hazel D Kearney. She passed away in Springfield Missouri on January 24, 2025 after a brief battle with a major infection caused by a kidney stone. She was 85 years old.
Ileene grew up and went to school at a country one-room school near the family farm. She also attended Marshall Missouri school and then graduated from Wyandotte County Kansas high school in 1957.
She worked at The Hartford Insurance Company in Kansas City, Missouri where she met her future husband Robert (Bob) P. Eastin. They were married February 22, 1958. They had three boys: Tim, Jim, and John. After Tim was born, they moved out of Kansas City to Osceola Missouri, where they set up their own business. They spent many years enjoying the lake, participating in the boy’s activities, and working together in the Eastin Osceola Insurance Agency.
Ileene enjoyed dancing, playing cards – Bridge, Hearts/Spades, Tripoli, large tile Rummikub, and Old Maid. She also tried her hand at quilting and stained-glass art. But what she enjoyed the most was spending time with her Lord and Savior and in His Word. She was great company over a cup of coffee and a great conversation.
Ileene was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hazel; her brothers, Wayne and Warren; sister-in-law, Teana; her husband, Bob; and son, Jim.
She is survived by her son Tim, and daughter-in-law Susan; son John, and daughter-in-law Tracy; grandchildren Zach, and wife Emily, Mariah, and husband Evan, Emily Jo, Elizabeth and husband Saul, and Elayna. Great-grandchildren Judah, Malachi, Alayna, Aiden and Ava.
Ileene – Mom, Grandma, Gigi – will be greatly missed, but we are rejoicing that she is dancing with Jesus.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Great Commission Fund at First Baptist Church of Ozark, 1400 S. Jackson St., Ozark, MO 65721.
