On this day July 14, 2014 at 7:40 a.m. Shirley Viola Fox took the hand of our Lord and started the next chapter in her life. She came into the world on August 28, 1934.
She grew up in La Plata MO, on a farm and was very active in the farm life and sports in school. Those who knew her will attest to her ambition to be the best person she could be to everyone, her family and friends included. Shirley along with her Friend Kay Crabaugh, worked with the Girl Scouts for12 plus years and were avid supporters of Boy Scouts as well.
She met her husband Frank Fox while working in Kansas City Missouri, they married on March 10, 1953; and celebrated for 61 years of marriage. She moved to El Dorado Springs MO, to take up farming again and became an Registered Nurse.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 61 years, Frank D. Fox of El Dorado Springs, Missouri; daughter Janet Lynn Eastham of El Dorado Springs, Missouri; and son Richard Lee Fox of Tulsa Oklahoma. Also surviving is her sister Nell and her husband Bob Reidmeyer of Hannibal Missouri; her younger brother Henry Hall and his wife Joyce, of La Plata Missouri; her sisters and brother in-law Nellie, Forest, and Ellen of Joplin, Missouri. She also has five grand children Adam and Jonathan Fox, Becky, Michael Durham, and Kelly Sims, and great granddaughter Brittney Durham. Those also to mention who were considered by her, and family as her children as well are David, Sherman, and Steve Staffer, Clark and Ann Garner, Theresa Allen; the list is far to many to list here.
Some people knew Shirley painted both oils and china paint, did ceramics, knitted, volunteered and served as a board member, on the board of Untied Way, and the Cancer Society; needless to say she was never afraid to learn or try anything new.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother Olin and Vera Hall, brother Lee Hall, sister-in-law Elaine Hall, nephew Daryl Hall, and grandson Billy Durham.
