Robert L. Garver was born September 17, 1932 to Clyde E. and Birdie J. (Smith) Garver. He passed away on March 5, 2017 at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital.
He graduated from Roscoe High School in 1950 and upon graduation he entered the Army and served in the Korean War. He was discharged on Christmas Day 1954. He was a member of the Roscoe School Board for over 20 years. He served as Post Commander and Post All State Commander for VFW Post #4197, Osceola, Missouri. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #342 for over 50 years and served as Worshipful Master. He was very active in the Honor Guard, marching in numerous parades in various cities.
He was one of the founding members of the Local VFW and was instrumental in constructing the current building. Throughout his life, Bob spent his days as a farmer, carpenter and raising seven children. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was always there to support the activities at the VFW, the Lodge and the Village of Roscoe, donating countless hours of work.
In his later years, he enjoyed gardening, riding around the pasture on his “mule”, checking cows and just enjoying time on his farm. He had a lot of friends and he never forgot a face. He will be missed by all of those that knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Wanda Speight, grandson Tim, son-in-law Buddy, granddaughter Alyson, brothers-in-law Phil, Dale and Alvin.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Kathie; four daughters, Sandy Saunders and husband Chuck, Sharon Hoots and husband Brian, Debbie Peden and Lori Bumsted and husband Myron; three sons, Larry Quaintance and wife Jean, Terry Quaintance and wife Cindy and Bobby Garver; one grandson, Rob Garver; five granddaughters, Kendall, Jenny, Lindsay, Emily and Amy; three great granddaughters; three great grandsons; two sisters, Joyce Breeden and Brenda Chambers and husband Ross as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
