Lawrence R. “Buster” Gillespie, 82, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away July 26, 2012. A visitation will be held at White Chapel Funeral Home in Gladstone, Missouri on Monday July 30, 2012 from 6-8 PM. On Tuesday, July 31, 2012 a visitation will be held from 2 to 3 PM, with the service starting at 3 PM at Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral home. The family suggest contributions to the Gracemor Christian Church, 5600 NE San Rafael Drive, Kansas City, Missouri 64119.
Buster was born to William and Sylvia Anglin Gillespie in Osceola, Missouri on March 2, 1930. He played basketball and baseball at Osceola High School, where he later graduated. Buster served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954 where he worked on the USS Princeton as an aviation electrician. He worked for KCP&L for 36 years where he retired from on April 1, 1992. He was a member of the Gracemor Christian Church and The American Legion. He loved summers where he lived at the Lake and spent most of his time cat fishing.
Buster is preceded in death by his parents, brothers George and Charles Gillispie,
Survivors include his wife of the home Ina, whom he was morried to since February 4, 1956, daughter Karen Gillespie of the home, son Raymond Gillespie and wife Debra of Edwardsville, Kansas, daughter Alice Quick and husband Ronald of Kansas City, Missouri 4 grandchildren and 4 great grand children which he was so proud of, sister Zelda Stevens, and brothers Jimmie, Robert, and Earl Gillispie.
