Mary Lou Greathouse age 77 of Osceola, Mo. passed away on Thursday, March 2nd surrounded by her loved ones. Mary was born on March 28th, 1945 in Granger, Mo, the daughter of George W. Mendenhall and Mable E. Otto. She was one of 11 children. She graduated from Wyaconda High School, Wyaconda, Mo. in 1963 where she stayed busy playing sports.
While finishing her senior year, she met the love of her life, Robert J. Greathouse. To this union, seven children were born. Robert worked as a millwright, and Mary was a stay-at-home mother. Being a millwright caused the family to move frequently through the years, but they finally settled down and planted roots in Osceola, Mo. Mary then worked as a cleaning lady in Clinton and then worked several years in the Laundry at Truman Lake Manor in Lowry City, before retiring for health reasons.
She enjoyed getting together with her friends for their “Punch Class” in Lowry City, for crafts, laughter & food. She loved having holidays at her home, preparing her family big meals, baking cookies and making candy. She loved sewing, mowing her yard and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Greathouse, and two sons, Donald E. Greathouse and Gary J. Greathouse, five of her siblings and her parents.
She is survived by her children, Lynne & (David) Boyd, Tim & (Micki) O’Banion, Chris & (Pam) O’Banion, Fred & (Karen) Greathouse, and Norma & (Jody) Crenshaw, 16 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
